Bought the Sonnet Echo Dual NVMe Thunderbolt Dock with two Western Digital SN850P 4TB ssd’s for harddisk recording. Very happy with it. Way overspec’d maybe, but future proof, and at least this will not be the bottleneck. I mean, my audio interface can record 32 tracks of 24 bit 96kHz audio, but that would only be about 75 mB’s per second. Go figure how ridiculously fast Thunderbolt is at 6000 mBs per second!
Thunderbolt is so crazy fast, only if you do professional video editing you really need speeds like that. Reliability is, in most cases, more important. Look up Quad, triple or multi level cell, and TBW before you buy. It can be quite confusing, but better safe than sorry.
I have 2020 MacBook Pro which has thunderbolt 3 ports. I’m looking for external SSD ideally 3tb, but hard to understand which might be best for my ports, any. advice for thunderbolt 3?
The Acasis SSD enclosure still needs an SSD to go with it?
